This coffee comes via direct trade from the Huila region in Colombia. Luis Collazos is the primary producer of La Bermeo, a coffee farm that’s around 9 hectares in size, of which 6 hectares is allocated for coffee. Luis and the Collazos family grow coffee in a traditional way, which means (among other things) re-using the pulp from coffee as a natural fertilizer in addition to the more commercial fertilizers.

In addition to coffee the farm is home to a variety of fruit trees including orange, peach, lemon and tangerine. The fruit trees help keep the soil moist and add some special characteristics in the coffee itself.

Luis is a second-generation coffee producer and inherited the farm from his parents around 20 years ago. Luis and his wife have been married for 30 years and the eldest of their seven kids, Heimar, is interested in continuing the family legacy in coffee production. The main goals for the Collazos family is producing better and better coffee and improving their methods and processes while doing it.
