As a result, the water is in contact with the coffee for a longer time, which makes the extraction more complete. The spiral-shaped inside of the filter funnel guides the flow of water, and the bumps in it give the coffee room to expand and excess air room to escape during extraction. The tip of the filter paper comes out of the hole in the bottom of the funnel and the coffee drips from this tip. Thanks to the rather large hole, you can influence the flow rate of the water through the coffee, which also has a significant effect on the final taste.
